Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies first premiered on December 20, 1986, at the Toei Cartoon Festival. In 2006, Toei Animation released Curse of the Blood Rubies as part of the definitive Dragon Box DVD set, which included all four Dragon Ball films and thirteen Dragon Ball Z films. It was shown in a new cinematic version of original sources with an aspect ratio of 16:9 which is interlaced with the original 4:3 aspect ratio. Daisuke Nishio is a director and animator from Japan. In 1981, he began working as an animator for Toei Doga. In 1982, after working on several TV shows, he was promoted to assistant director on Dr. Slump – Arale-chan. He made his directorial debut with Dragon Ball in 1986 and his film debut with Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenron the following year. Nishio also directed Dragon Ball Z’s sequel TV series and several of its films.
What Is Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies About?
Goku and his friends must prevent King Gurumes from destroying the city in his quest for the Blood Rubies. The video opens with a narrator explaining how the Dragon Balls were made and distributed over the earth. When the seven meet, Shenron, keeper of the Dragon Balls, will ascend from his fiery cave and fulfill any request. Shenron retreats to his sanctuary until a “brave or stupid spirit” combines the balls. King Gurumes’ forces are demolishing farmers’ houses and farms to find “blood Rubies.” Pasta and Bongo (Raven and Major Domo in 1995) are its principal executors, and he must discover the Dragon Balls. Gurumes is cursed after obtaining the Blood Rubies, turning him into a greedy purple monster. The Dragon Balls may end the curse.
The Dragon Balls, seven orange balls with a different number of red stars on each one, were formed and scattered all over the land. The prophecy said that when the seven meet together, an eternal dragon named Shenron will rise from his fiery lair and grant any wish to whoever summoned him. King Gurumes’ soldiers are destroying the homes and lands of farmers within his kingdom to search for “blood sapphire.” His main executors are Pasta and Bongo (Raven and Major Domo in 1995), and he has been tasked with finding the Dragon Balls. After knowing that Bulma is a girl, Goku tells her that his grandfather gave her the Dragon Ball before his death.
Pasta and Bongo steal the Dragon Balls from Goku’s house before he and Bulma arrive, only to find a gold coin that Pasta had set as payment. When they both fall, Goku saves Bulma by sending her to a nearby cliff with his power pole while he drowns in the river.
