Dragon Pig Z

In Dragon Ball Z, Vegeta and his friends use a mythical and particularly practical tool: the scooter, a kind of ultra-technological bezel to calculate the power of an opponent. An easily recognizable and largely rooted in pop-culture device, obviously totally fictitious.. until now. Finally, or almost. We explain to you.

At the University of Miyazaki, in southwestern Japan, a team of scientists worked on their own version of the famous scooter: concretely, it is a kind of helmet equipped with smart glasses and a 3D camera, actually used to measure the mass… of a pig. Yes, you read correctly, on really talking about the pig.

The idea, is to be able to measure the weight of the animal at a glance and pointing to it, without having to put it on a scale. From there, the headset then uses artificial intelligence to compare the pig with thousands of others. photos and estimate its mass.

A device supported directly… by Dragon Ball

The irony of pork fate is that the inventor of this tool, Professor Kikuhito Kawasue, had absolutely no idea that his creation looked awfully like the scooter from Dragon Ball Z: it was his students who warned him of this parallel! Note also that the object is called the “sow-ter”, in reference to the DBZ scooter.

Even more surprising, the franchise’s official website relayed the news, directly supporting Kawasue’s invention. Faced with the fait accompli, the researcher admits to being motivated to watch the series and even… to consider the creation of a real scouter to fill the fans. We do not really know comment he’s going to do it, but we’re curious.
