Embracer Group has been making big changes lately, and that includes some job cuts. The company has let go of 1,400 employees, which is about 8% of its global workforce. This is all part of a plan to restructure the company, which also involves closing studios and canceling projects.
They’ve already shut down some well-known companies, like Volition and Free Radical Design. It’s also been reported that Gearbox, Crystal Dynamics, Beamdog, Zen Studios, and Eidos Montreal have all had layoffs as well. In total, 483 employees were let go in the latest round of cuts, adding to the 904 from earlier in the year.
The CEO, Lars Wingefors, says that this restructuring plan is almost finished, but there may still be more cuts and changes to come as the company looks to sell off more assets. He’s hopeful that this will help them reduce their debt and make the company stronger in the long run.
