FBC: Firebreak Crosses 1 Million Players Milestone
Remedy Entertainment is celebrating a significant achievement, as their latest title, FBC: Firebreak, has surpassed 1 million players since its launch. Released on June 17 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the game was available on day one for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and PlayStation Plus.
In a recent post on social media, the studio confirmed this impressive milestone: “As of last night, we have surpassed 1 million players in FBC: Firebreak. This is a significant milestone, so thank you for playing from all of us at Remedy.” However, they didn’t shy away from acknowledging that there’s still a lot of work to be done.
Mixed Reviews and Future Improvements
The co-op PvE first-person shooter, set within the Control universe, has received a mixed response from players since its release. Currently, its Metacritic score sits at 65, while Steam user reviews are categorized as ‘Mixed.’ Of the 1,408 reviews on Steam, only 67% are positive. This mixed reception suggests that while the game has gathered a large player base, not everyone is on board with the gameplay experience.
SteamDB highlights that the game had a modest start on the platform, peaking at 1,992 concurrent players at launch, but has seen a consistent decline. In the last 24-hour period, peak player count dropped to just 169. It’s likely that a substantial portion of those 1 million players are Game Pass or PlayStation Plus subscribers who tried the game through their memberships.
The future of Firebreak remains uncertain, as the success of multiplayer titles often hinges on players’ willingness to stick around. Remedy promises that exciting updates are in the works, aimed at enhancing the player experience. They expressed confidence, stating, “We are super-motivated about it. We have a lot of exciting things cooking for Firebreak players. More about that soon.”
