The Countdown Begins: Desert Perpetual Raid Arrives Soon
Destiny 2 fans are on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the launch of the Desert Perpetual Raid. This highly-anticipated raid is set to become the ultimate challenge for players, exclusively available to those who own the recently released Edge of Fate expansion.
The expansion officially launched earlier this week across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but the raid itself will kick off on July 19 at 6 PM BST UK time. Players should prepare for an intense challenge, as the raid will first enter Contest mode—the game’s toughest difficulty—for its first 48 hours. This setup sets the stage for an exhilarating World First race that promises to highlight the skills of top players.
Getting Prepared for the Challenge
To participate in the Desert Perpetual Raid, players need to meet specific requirements. Not only must they own a copy of Edge of Fate, but they also need to complete the expansion’s campaign first. With a necessary Power Level of 100, it’s recommended to conquer the campaign on Legendary difficulty to ensure you’re raid-ready.
Bungie has clarified this requirement explicitly: “Completing The Edge of Fate campaign on Legendary difficulty will gear you up nicely for the raid.” Although players can also finish the campaign on standard difficulty and grind towards the required level, the Legendary route definitely offers the best preparation for the challenges that lie ahead.
Additionally, players will have the chance to compete for the coveted title of World’s First. The first team to successfully complete the raid within the 48-hour launch period will earn a wrestling-style championship belt, further ramping up the stakes!
During this timeframe, Bungie has confirmed that fireteams won’t need to return to orbit in between encounters, allowing for a seamless race to the finish. The winners will be determined by completing all encounters and looting the final chest, but Bungie will take extra measures to ensure the integrity of the competition. Any signs of cheating could lead to disqualification, so teams must play fair.
Once the initial contest window closes, the raid will revert to Normal difficulty. This adjustment ensures that all players, regardless of their skill level, can experience the excitement of the Desert Perpetual Raid once the dust settles.
