Helldivers 2, Sony’s latest sensation, has been a massive hit, with over 8 million copies sold since its launch just a month ago, according to market analyst Doug Creutz. This number continues to rise every week, surpassing expectations.
While official sales figures have not been released by Sony, Helldivers 2 has seen consistently high player numbers on Steam, with over 430,000 concurrent players. In the UK, the game topped the charts in February and has seen growing sales week after week since its release on February 8th.
The PS5 version of Helldivers 2 made up the majority of its sales in the UK last month, with PC sales making up the rest. Despite its success, there is no confirmation of Arrowhead Game Studio, the developer of Helldivers 2, being acquired by PlayStation.
CEO Johan Pilestedt has addressed and resolved server issues that players were facing, allowing the team to focus on improving the game and creating new content. “Now we have time to focus on improvements to the title and resume our original plan,” he shared. “Many exciting things upcoming.”
