Since the expansion of Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris in 2017, players wanted Sparrows on Mercury (Destiny’s smallest location). In the teaser trailer for Destiny 2’s upcoming Season of Dawn, the studio unceremoniously revealed that Guardians could finally get their bikes on Mercury.

When Curse of Osiris was released in 2017, Bungie did not allow players to ride on Mercury Sparrows – probably because it only takes about 45 seconds to run from one side of the area to the other. But with the upcoming Season of the Dawn, which is mostly on the hot planet, the fans hoped that things would change. In a moment when you do not miss anything, you can clearly see how guards drive new sparrows through the familiar desert sand. Destiny’s community manager, dmg04, confirmed the feature on Twitter.

Mercury is not a popular planet in Destiny 2, but there are still two strike missions that players sometimes get into. Speed is the name of the game in Destiny’s many tricky activities, and Mercury is currently the only planet where you can not use a sparrow. So, this seemingly small detail is celebrated by the fans.

The curse of Osiris is widely regarded as the worst expansion in the history of the Destiny franchise. While Destiny 2 has improved a lot in the last two years, Mercury still remembers when Destiny fans were the hardest hit. In a small way, this gesture seems almost a recognition of that frustration years later, especially now that Bungie has developed a better relationship with his community.

Bungie will fully unveil Season of Dawn on December 4, and the new content will be released on December 10.
