Exciting news for Resident Evil fans – Rumors suggest that Resident Evil 9 could be an open-world game! According to reliable source ‘Dusk Golem’, who has a track record of leaking video game information before it’s officially announced, the next Resident Evil game might take on a whole new format.

With the success of Dragon’s Dogma 2 in expanding the RE Engine for open-world gameplay, it seems like Capcom is looking to dive into the open-world genre with not only Monster Hunter Wild, but also Resident Evil 9.

While Resident Evil Village introduced larger, semi-open areas for players to explore, the franchise has never fully embraced the open-world concept until now.

On another note, Monster Hunter Wild, the sequel to Monster Hunter World, is set to release in 2025 with limited details available. Fans can expect more information to drop in summer 2024 from Capcom.

Speaking of Capcom, the company was recognized as Metacritic’s highest-rated publisher in 2023, thanks to their top-tier releases last year. However, their latest game, Dragon’s Dogma 2, has faced some backlash upon its release.

Despite receiving positive pre-release reviews, the game has received a ‘mixed’ reception on Steam, with only 40% of over 9,300 user reviews being positive. Criticisms mainly stem from the 21 separate DLC purchases available on day one, with players feeling that some content should have been included in the base game.

Exciting developments in the world of gaming, with potential for more open-world adventures in the Resident Evil universe and anticipation building for Monster Hunter Wild’s release!
