Kotaku’s editor-in-chief, Jen Glennon, has stepped down from her position, citing disagreements with the management team’s new direction. She began her role on October 10, reporting to G/O Media’s management. In a statement on X, Glennon announced her resignation, taking a jab at G/O Media CEO Jim Spanfeller.
Aftermath, a group of former Kotaku staff, obtained a copy of Glennon’s resignation letter. In it, she expressed her disagreement with the decision to prioritize guides over news on the site. She criticized the management structure at G/O Media for not aligning with her values and goals for Kotaku.
According to Aftermath, Kotaku’s remaining staff is now expected to produce 50 guides per week, with the front page focusing on tips and guides instead of breaking news stories. The decision to shift priorities has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the impact on the writers and editors at the site.
