The Last of Us Part 2 “Enhanced Version” in Development

The Last of Us Part 2 composer Gustavo Santaolalla has seemingly let slip that an “enhanced version” of the game is in development at Naughty Dog.

Santaolalla, who also composed the original game and the franchise’s TV adaptation for HBO, mentioned the new version during an interview with Blender.

During the interview, an interviewer expressed delight at playing the game and discovering Santaolalla’s cameo. In that section, Santaolalla can be seen playing a song with a ronroco.

According to Spanish language website Vandal, Santaolalla revealed that a “new version” of the game is in the works, allowing players to “make [him] play certain tracks”. He mentioned he couldn’t provide further information.

The Last of Us Part 2 Updates

The Last of Us Part 2, released for PS4 in June 2020, received a PS5 performance patch a year later.

It was previously rumored that Naughty Dog was working on a director’s cut of The Last of Us Part 2.

TV Series and Potential Release

A remake of the original The Last of Us was released last September, preceding the first season of HBO’s adaptation. The TV series covers the events of the game.

The Last of Us received 24 nominations for the 75th Emmy Awards, falling just three nominations short of the leading HBO show Succession.

An updated version of The Last of Us Part 2 could potentially coincide with the release of the TV series’ second season, although one of the show’s stars recently suggested that might not happen for a couple of years.
