Xbox Game Studios Unveils Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, a New Chapter in Ninja Theory’s Award-Winning Hellblade Story
For eighteen years and three generations of consoles, the Xbox community has shown us the power of games and fun for all of us. As we enter a new generation of games, we see a future in which you are immediately engrossed in your games – where worlds are even more realistic, immersive, responsive, and surprising – and where you are at the center of your gaming experience. With the new Xbox Series X we will realize this vision.
The Xbox Series X will be our fastest, most powerful console ever, setting new standards in performance, speed and compatibility. So you can bring your game heritage, thousands of games from three generations and more to the front. Its industrial design allows us to deliver the quadruple computing power of Xbox One X in a quiet and efficient manner. This is crucial for a really impressive gameplay. We’ve also developed the Xbox X series to support both vertical and horizontal alignment. It’s brave and unique, just like our fans around the world and the team of co-workers and innovators who built it.
The name Xbox is an expression of our long gaming history, the tireless passion of our team and our dedication to our fans and the future of gaming at Microsoft. This also demonstrates our belief that a game console should be just that – for games.
In addition to the Xbox Series X, we also introduced the new Xbox Wireless Controller. Its size and shape have been refined to accommodate an even larger number of people. It also features a new release button that makes it easy to capture screenshots and game clips, as well as an enhanced directional pad derived from the Xbox Elite Series 2 wireless controller. The new Xbox Wireless Controller is compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs and comes bundled with every Xbox Series X.
The Xbox Series X’s ability to reach developers also came to life that night with the unveiling of Senuas Saga: Hellblade II. A sequel to the award-winning Hellblade: Senua’s victim of world-famous developer Ninja Theory. Designed to take full advantage of the Xbox Series X, X is available to developers to deliver new universes, experiences, and games in ways you’ve never imagined.

Realize with Xbox Series X developer dreams
Today’s games provide amazing images and tell a series of different and deep stories. So when we started working on the Xbox Series X, it was essential to continue to develop the cutting-edge visual skills for developers while ensuring that they feel even more in their games, emotions and empathy. With Xbox Series X we will improve the way games look, play and feel. We will also remove the technical barriers faced by previous generations and allow developers to create more expansive, immersive game worlds that invite more players to play.
From a technical point of view, this is indicated as top-of-the-line graphics in 4K at 60FPS with the possibility of up to 120FPS including variable refresh rate (VRR) support and 8K capability. With our custom processor based on the latest next-generation Zen 2 and RDNA architecture from our AMD partners, the Xbox Series X offers hardware-accelerated ray tracing and unprecedented console performance. With our patented Variable Rate Shading (VRS) technology, developers can get even more out of the Xbox Xbox Xbox. Our next-generation SSD virtually eliminates load times and gets players into their game worlds faster than ever.
We minimize latency by leveraging technologies such as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and providing developers with new features such as Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) to make the Xbox Series X the most responsive console ever. Designed for a future in the cloud, the Xbox Series X has unique features in hardware and software that make it easy to bring great games to the console and other places. The Xbox X Series offers higher fidelity and immersion than anything achieved in previous console generations.
A console, four game generations
One of the things we are most proud of in the Xbox Series X is the promise we make to our fans who invest with Xbox and continue to do so. With backward compatibility, you can expect your gaming legacy, thousands of your favorite games in four game generations, all of your Xbox One gaming accessories, and industry-leading services like Xbox Game Pass to be available when you turn on your Xbox Series X on holiday 2020.
Building on our compatibility promise, we’re also investing in consumer-friendly ways to ensure ownership of games with the Xbox X Series. We’re at the forefront of our first-party titles, including Halo Infinite in 2020, and we’re committed to ensuring that Xbox Game Studios games support cross-generational permissions and that your achievements and scores are shared across devices. Console games will continue to be at the heart of our Xbox offer as we extend the game to more players around the world. Game developers around the world are already working hard to develop content for the Xbox Series X, and our 15 Xbox Game Studios are developing the largest and most creative selection of exclusive Xbox games in our history.
