The 2019 Game Awards are currently underway in Los Angeles, where Seattle-based developer Microsoft took the stage to announce the name of its next generation console, the Xbox Series X.
According to Xbox boss Phil Spencer, the Xbox Series X – formerly known as Project Scarlett – is the most powerful console the developer has created. Although Microsoft did not reveal much new details about Series X, we know that the console has a real-time ray tracing feature and third-generation Ryzen CPU and Navi graphics technology. The next-generation console is also fully backwards compatible with previous Xbox generations. Microsoft also took the opportunity to announce an exclusive Series X, Senua’s saga: Hellblade 2.
“The next Xbox Series X will take us into the future of console gaming,” said Spencer.
“It will set a new benchmark for performance, speed and compatibility,” he continued.
Here is Microsoft:
From a technical point of view, this is indicated as top-of-the-line graphics in 4K at 60FPS with the possibility of up to 120FPS including variable refresh rate (VRR) support and 8K capability. With our patented Variable Rate Shading (VRS) technology, developers can get even more out of the Xbox Xbox Xbox. Our next-generation SSD virtually eliminates load times and gets players into their game worlds faster than ever.
We minimize latency by leveraging technologies such as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and providing developers with new features such as Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) to make the Xbox Series X the most responsive console ever.
