Microsoft CEO Open to Eliminating Console Exclusive Games
During his testimony in Microsoft’s court case against the US Federal Trade Commission, CEO Satya Nadella expressed his willingness to remove console exclusive games if it were possible.
Nadella, who has been leading Microsoft for over nine years, believes in making software available on as many platforms as possible.
He acknowledged that Xbox has exclusive games but explained that this is a strategic move to compete with dominant rival Sony in the console market.
While Nadella personally dislikes exclusivity, he acknowledged that it is a necessary aspect of the current industry landscape.
Sony had expressed concerns about potential exclusivity of Call of Duty games on PlayStation after Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision, but Nadella assured that Microsoft has no intentions of withholding games from Sony’s platform.
To ensure transparency and commitment to Sony, Nadella personally spoke with Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida to clarify Microsoft’s plans and reinforce their commitment to the PlayStation.
Nadella, an avid player of Candy Crush and Call of Duty, reassured that Call of Duty games will continue to be released on PlayStation.
