Monarch: Legacy of Monsters – A New Addition to the MonsterVerse
After the success of Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021, Legendary Television suggested a live-action show that would follow in Godzilla’s huge path. In January 2022, Apple TV+ bargained for and won the MonsterVerse project, which meant it could start right away. Along with Godzilla (2014), Legendary’s MonsterVerse now has four movies: Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and, of course, Godzilla vs. Kong. The fifth installment in the MonsterVerse will be this series. There have been 36 movies in the Godzilla franchise and 12 movies in the King Kong series as of right now. Legendary Television, Safehouse Pictures, and Toho will all work together to make Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. It will be set in the same imagination world. The 10-episode show was created by Matt Fraction and Chris Black. It will be available on Apple TV+, and the first two episodes were directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision).

What Is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Plot?
The main idea behind the show comes after a fight between Monarch: Legacy of Monsters in San Francisco. When it turns out that there are more than one monster in the world, one family has to uncover the secrets that connect them to a strange government group called “Monarch.”
There have been direct references to Monarch in the previous MonsterVerse movies, such as in Godzilla, where Sally Hawkins plays Dr. Vivienne Graham; Kong: Skull Island, where John Goodman plays Bill Randa; Godzilla: King of Monsters, where Vera Farmiga plays Dr. Emma Russell; and Godzilla vs. Kong, where Alexander Skarsgård plays Dr. Nathan Lind. The group has always been dedicated to studying and learning from the huge creatures, even if it means putting other people in danger.
The official synopsis for the series is:
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to discover their family’s connection to the secret organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole that Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell) took place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
