Release Date Announced for Netflix’s Animated Castlevania Series
Netflix’s new animated series, Castlevania: Nocturne, has an official release date. The show will premiere on September 28 on the streaming service.
On Wednesday, Netflix announced the release date with the message, “It begins. Teaser trailer drops tomorrow.” You can find the teaser trailer on Twitter.
Last June, Netflix revealed that Castlevania: Nocturne was in production. The series is run by showrunner Kevin Kolde and Creator/Writer Clive Bradley, with Project 51 Productions as the producer and Powerhouse Animation providing production services.
Castlevania: Nocturne follows the story of Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family, known from the Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.
The last game in the Castlevania series, Lords of Shadow 2, was released in 2014. However, according to AsumeTech, Konami is currently working on a “reimagining” of the series internally, with support from local external studios in Japan.
In other Netflix news, Sonic Prime Season 2 premiered earlier this month, and the final episodes of The Witcher Season 3 will be available on Thursday.
Additionally, Netflix is venturing into the gaming world with an original, multiplatform, triple-A game. The game is being developed at a studio in California, led by Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny. The team also includes Joseph Staten, the studio’s creative director and a Halo veteran, and Raf Grassetti, the art director who previously worked on God of War at Santa Monica Studio.
