The first film Sonic had teeth. The second film Sonic looked like Sonic. But the third film Sonic . get ready. This was an artistic direction that none of us was prepared for.
An exclusive Japanese trailer for the upcoming release of Sonic the Hedgehog in February brings a new version of the classic character to life on the grassy trails of the Emerald Hill Zone. “Baby Sonic,” as Paramount Pictures’ Japanese Twitter account puts it, has never been rendered in a game. But the live action blockbuster will deal with the character’s genesis, complete with this adorable mug. (Don’t tell Baby Yoda.)

Sonic the Hedgehog was originally scheduled to hit theaters in November, but after responding to the tooth-filling redesign in the film’s first trailer, Paramount shifted the date to February 2020. The criticism prompted director Jeff Fowler to return to the drawing board. The result is a finished look which more closely matches the character’s appearance from the original 1991 game.
But Baby Sonic is a completely different level of the breathtaking CG wonder. Look at this kid. Look at those eyes. And he runs.
According to the Japanese trailer, there will be Baby Sonic key rings. Your move, slow trickle of baby Yoda Merch.
Sonic the Hedgehog will hit theaters on February 14, 2020.
