Nintendo Reveals Cast for The Legend of Zelda Movie

The hype train just picked up serious speed! Nintendo has officially announced the leading actors for the highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda movie.

16-year-old British actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, known for voicing Pinocchio in Disney’s live-action adaptation, will step into the iconic role of Link. In a thrilling twist, the role of Zelda will be portrayed by 21-year-old English actress Bo Bragason, recognized for her performances in BBC’s Three Girls and Disney+’s Renegade Nell.

With Shigeru Miyamoto and veteran producer Avi Arad at the helm, this cinematic venture promises to be a blockbuster. Fans can mark May 7, 2027, on their calendars, as Nintendo just shifted the movie’s release date.

Directed by Wes Ball, celebrated for his work on the Maze Runner trilogy, the film aims to blend seriousness with a fun and whimsical approach, inspired by the captivating style of Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki. Ball has expressed a clear vision for bringing the rich universe of The Legend of Zelda to life.

Insider insights suggest that this cinematic journey may evolve into a trilogy, with production gearing up to start shooting later this year. According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, casting is set to encompass all major roles across three films, spanning over six years.

The Legend of Zelda joins the ranks of Nintendo franchises that have successfully crossed over into film, following the successes of Detective Pikachu and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the latter of which shattered records as one of the highest-grossing animated films.
