Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars Co-director Excited for Nintendo’s Remake
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars co-director Chihiro Fujioka has expressed his delight over the upcoming remake of the game by Nintendo.
Remake Announcement
The remake, titled Super Mario RPG, was announced last month and is set to be released for Nintendo Switch on November 17, 2023.
Fujioka’s Reaction
Fujioka, who co-directed the original game for the SNES in 1996, won’t be involved in the remake. However, he shared his excitement towards playing it.
Responding to a fan’s question about his contribution to the remake, he tweeted, “I am not involved in the remake. But I am very surprised and pleased with the news!”
Fujioka’s Appreciation
In response to another fan expressing gratitude for his work on the original game, Fujioka also stated (via Reddit), “Thanks for your message! I too am very happy and looking forward to November!”
Potential Future Project
Fujioka has previously shared his desire for his final game to be “another Mario RPG if possible”.
Original Composer’s Return
Yoko Shimomura, the composer of the original Super Mario RPG, confirmed that she will be returning to handle the music for the remake.
Game Description
“Originally released on Super NES, Super Mario RPG has been overhauled with new graphics,” according to Nintendo. “Join Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach, and original characters Mallow and Geno, in an RPG filled with twists, turns and treasure. Mario must team up with his allies to face down a menacing force known as the Smithy Gang in order to recover seven stars and repair the Star Road.”
