No Man’s Sky Update 4.60 – Detailed Patch Notes
SPACE STATIONS
- Space stations have received a complete overhaul and refreshing update. The exteriors of space stations now come in a wide range of procedurally generated shapes and colors, and have increased in scale. The interiors of space stations have also been procedurally generated, resulting in a huge amount of lighting and visual variation. Additionally, the interior designs of space stations now reflect the race of the local system authorities. The key space station merchants and interactions have been visually refreshed for a more immersive experience.
SCREEN SPACE REFLECTIONS
- A number of optimizations and visual improvements have been made to the screen space reflection rendering. Reflection rendering has been revised to reduce noise and make the effect more stable. The lighting model for reflections has been improved to achieve a more realistic and physically based look.
FLEET MISSIONS
- During expeditions, frigates now have the ability to call home via the starship communicator or the fleet command terminal on your freighter. The fleet commander may seek your advice or request direct assistance in dealing with a tricky situation. Your decisions and efforts to assist your fleet have a direct impact on the outcome and rewards for fleet missions. Several text issues when using the captain’s terminal on a frigate have also been fixed. The player’s torch will no longer be auto-activated when boarding a frigate. The frigate teleporter can no longer be triggered while the frigate is on a mission. Various issues, such as asteroid flickering and the absence of outlaw frigates for defense, have been resolved. Nearby fleets will now always deploy fighters to assist the player in combat, even if they are on a mission. When landing on an outlaw frigate, the captain will now greet you with an appropriate message.
STARSHIP CUSTOMIZATION
- A new interaction called the Starship Fabricator has been added to space stations. This fabricator allows players to build their own custom fighter, hauler, or explorer starship. When salvaging a ship, players can now target specific visuals, such as wings or thruster array, and use these harvested components to create a brand-new ship. Starship reactors can be purchased from space station technology merchants to determine the stats and class of the new starship. The fabricator also offers a wide range of unique color and paint styles for customization. Starships salvaged from the wild or purchased from other pilots will now benefit from universal authentication, granting them a bonus to future trade-in values.
USER INTERFACE
- The splash screen, mode select screens, and options screens have all received visual overhauls for improved clarity. The in-game patch notes have also been visually upgraded. Various UI pages, including purchase and decline buttons, compare and purchase screens, and transfer popups, have been restyled for better usability. When marking a mission location, the icon will now briefly start in the center of the screen before moving to its usual position, making it easier to track off-screen locations. An issue causing additional delay to the creation of markers for mission events has been fixed.
TRADING, REPUTATION, AND GUILDS
- Space station technology merchants now offer a wider range of upgrades, including high-quality modules. The price discount at space station technology merchants is now based on the player’s standing with their faction. The starship Economy Scanner can now be activated from the ship’s inventory or the quick menu. The Economy Scanner can now detect nearby trade surges in addition to planetary outposts. Trade surges are time-limited events in nearby systems that offer increased profit margins on specific goods. Players can take advantage of these surges by finding a source for the required trade items. The economy description on the galaxy map now uses a consistent label to describe the goods bought and sold in each system. The guild envoys for the Merchants, Mercenaries, and Explorers Guilds now offer a wide selection of items to their members. Guild envoys can be found aboard space stations and offer free supplies and heavily discounted items based on the player’s current standing with their guild. Envoys also accept donations to guild supplies in exchange for increasing the player’s standing with the guild. Pirate starships now yield Pirate Transponders when vanquished, which can be donated to the Mercenaries Guild for a boost to standing. The buttons to view journey milestones and faction standing within the catalogue have been improved for clarity. Several new alien words have been added for players to learn and translate. The trade terminal on space stations now has a clearer name and subtitle.
BASE PARTS
- A large number of new base parts have been added, inspired by the decoration style of space stations. Players can research these new parts with salvaged data at the construction research terminal on the Space Anomaly.
BUG FIXES
- Several issues regarding misaligned shuttle wings, visual glitches with the hologram at the Multi-Tool salvage terminal, and starship icons being used on the Multi-Tool salvage terminal have been fixed. Doors now open at the correct speed, preventing collision events between the door user and the door structure. Visual issues when attaching Autophage heads to other bodies in the customizer, flickering of planetary crops, and various memory leaks related to texture generation, streaming, holograms, planetary missions, discoveries, player bases, and claiming rewards have also been fixed. Performance optimizations have been introduced for non-combat locations such as space stations and the Anomaly. Multiplayer connectivity issues on Xbox have been addressed. Audio improvements have been made for the Starborn Runner’s landing effects, and the Starborn Runner can now hover during planetary flight. Solar-class starships now retract their sails when engaging the hyperdrive. Issues with starships attaching to docks or landing pads incorrectly and problems with the galaxy map marking the correct path type for missions have been resolved. Additionally, rare issues involving NPCs, objects, missions, recipes, message boxes, expedition terminals, camera placement, and inventory management have been addressed.
These detailed patch notes cover the extensive updates and improvements in No Man’s Sky Update 4.60. Players can now experience enhanced space stations, improved screen space reflections, engaging fleet missions, customizable starships, refined user interface, expanded trading and reputation systems, new base parts, and numerous bug fixes for a smoother gameplay experience.
