Nuisance alert

Computer attacks are unfortunately part of the video game landscape and when a game is free AND ultra-popular, it is a godsend for some individuals. Some go after personal data and others… just like to sow panic and taint the experience of public.

It is in this last category that the players in question here fall: MiHoYo, the studio behind the Genshin Impact, thus made a statement recently on social networks to rule on the situation. “We have noticed that some Travelers are using plug-ins to tamper with game data and intentionally disrupt the gameplay experience of other Travelers” says the Chinese firm.

“In Co-op mode, they were discovered using plug-ins to remove items from other Travelers in the open world, preventing them from playing under normal circumstances”, he continues. Fortunately, the problem was resolved or, at least, for now.

A situation returned (almost) to normal and punishments to be expected

Obviously, the experience was not optimal for all the players who met these individuals. MiHoYo, however, claims to have solved the problem on August 25, while having “repaired” the damage caused for the players concerned… but not all of them yet. Some Travelers still haven’t had their accounts fully restored, but the situation will be completely resolved “in a future update”.

In the meantime, the co-op mode works fully and normally. Especially the studio encourages players to report suspicious behavior via the game’s customer service, with the promise that the latter will contact them in the event of a credible suspicion. Moreover, those responsible should be punished and this also involves those who developed and edited the tools to hack into players’ accounts.

In order to maintain equality and protect the rights of Travelers, we have banned accounts using these plug-ins and will take legal action against the developers, users and distributors of these plug-ins.

The life of a free-to-play is not always easy!
