A top executive at the studio behind Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian, spoke out against “threats and toxicity” towards developers as they work on adding official mod support for the game on all platforms.
Michael Douse, Larian’s director of publishing, recently shared on X that the game has now reached over 10 million players.
Last week, Larian announced that they are developing official cross-platform mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3.
Responding to fan frustration over updates breaking mods like the Script Extender, Larian representatives on X and Discord acknowledged the issue.
Douse empathized with players upset over unofficial mods becoming unusable with each game update and assured them that the team is working on an official solution.
However, it seems that some players have been directing abusive behavior towards developers, prompting Douse to speak out against it on X.
He stated, “We’ll provide more information on our mod support soon. Threats and toxicity against our developers and community team only hinder discussion. Please refrain from such behavior.”
Douse emphasized that the game’s community is crucial for productive dialogue and urged players to be patient as the team works through challenges.
Despite some negative behavior, Douse praised the majority of the community for their support and resilience.
He reminded players not to direct frustration at mod authors, support teams, or developers, as their focus remains on improving the game and implementing mod support.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has received critical acclaim and recently won multiple awards, including Game of the Year at the DICE Awards and The Game Awards.
