PlayerUnknown’s next project, Prologue, has been announced

Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, the designer behind the battlefields of PlayerUnknown, is working on a new project called Prolog. The prologue was announced at The Game Awards 2019 with a short and highly mysterious trailer.

The trailer of the game shows a lush forest full of plants and rocks, through which runs a rough dirt road. There is a thunderstorm with a shower of rain, loud thunderbolts and lightning that strike somewhere nearby. The camera, our perspective for the duration of the trailer, moves and shows a bit more of the forest. Suddenly it barks, your character gets sharp and the teaser turns black.

And that’s the whole teaser. At the end of the short video, a website called playprologue.com will be displayed. The website offers a more detailed description, but does not reveal much.

According to the website:

prolog is an exploration of new technologies and gameplay. Our goal in this game is to provide players with unique and unforgettable experiences each time they play.

It is unclear whether these new technologies will be “researched” for use on PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds or for a completely new game. The project appears to be led by Green’s new PlayerUnknown Productions office, a smaller, more experimental group within PUBG. According to the game’s website, Prolog is a registered trademark of PUBG. However, this does not mean that the project refers to the main game PUBG.

On the site, players have the option to sign up via email to play whatever that game is whenever it’s actually posted.
