The venerable DualShock 4 controller from Sony receives a new peripheral. The controller, known as the back button attachment, adds a pair of programmable paddles to the back of a standard PlayStation 4 controller. The device, valued at $ 29.99, will be available from January 23, 2020.
The back button attachment contains a total of three buttons. Other buttons on the controller are simulated with two buttons. The third is embedded in an OLED screen and helps you program the buttons and go through three different profile modes. It connects to the small connector on the bottom of the DualShock 4 and has a passage for the headphone jack.
Controller paddles traditionally offer additional or alternative positions for buttons on a standard gamepad. This can be especially helpful for people with disabilities, with repeated stress injuries, or for players who want to improve their response time.

Paddles started early this decade with the Avenger, which moved the standard face buttons and even triggered on plastic fittings around the controller. This type of brute force modification eventually developed into fully electronic solutions such as those offered by Scuf and later by the Xbox Elite Controller. Now Sony has its own offer.
