A Possible Remaster for Red Dead Redemption
A new logo for Red Dead Redemption has been spotted on Rockstar’s website, leading to speculation about a potential remastered version of the game.
Posted on Twitter by @TezFunz2, it was also noted that the Rockstar website now includes a game titled “Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Presents Ver)” in its internal games list.
While it’s possible that this updated logo is simply for digital versions of the game, aligning it with other Rockstar titles featuring Rockstar Games Presents branding, there are indications that more could be in store.
Last month, South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee, known for revealing upcoming titles ahead of official announcements, classified Rockstar’s 13-year-old game.
Gematsu discovered the new rating, which is specifically for console games.
Although originally released for PS3 and Xbox 360 in May 2010, Red Dead Redemption was never ported to PC.
This new Korean classification stands apart from existing ones for the original game, its Undead Nightmare Collection, and its Game of the Year Edition.
A well-known Rockstar insider, who has previously leaked accurate information about the company’s games, stated last year that remasters for Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption were once planned but have been canceled since then.
In 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, featuring a multiplayer mode called Red Dead Online, which received a standalone release in 2020.
Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar, announced in May that the franchise has shipped over 75 million units, with Red Dead Redemption 2 accounting for 53 million copies.
While the company confirmed in early 2022 that “active development” for Grand Theft Auto 6 was well underway, more than an hour of leaked footage of the game surfaced online last September.
