65 million years ago, dinosaurs ruled the earth. And today, Return to Jurassic Park invites players back to Jurassic World Evolution with its newest and largest premium DLC package. For more information, I’ve talked to our executive producer Richard Newbold to find out more about what awaits players on Xbox One.
Community Manager Mark Stegall: So rich, life finds a way, what?
Executive Producer Richard Newbold: It has! We return to the popular places of Isla Nublar and Sorna with our new premium Return to Jurassic Park DLC package. Not only is it the biggest expansion of one of our bestselling games, but we’ve also reunited Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum to celebrate their famous roles of dr. Alan Grant, dr. Ellie Sattler and dr. To repeat Ian Malcolm.
WOMAN: So, how was it to reunite the gang after all this time?
RN: It was fantastic. We’re all big fans of the series at Frontier. When we started with the original cast, we all felt like kids again and saw the movie for the first time, brought to life in astonishment at the sight of a dinosaur.
MS: So, if you play a game like Jurassic World Evolution and return to such an iconic place and period, what’s the most important thing? And where do you start?
RN: Authenticity. That’s the big goal of this package, which fans have the feeling of being part of this world. Not only did we have the original cast, but we also worked on updating and changing so many other aspects. In addition to the new content, we have added legacy dinosaur variants, including the 1993 T. Rex model from Jurassic Park, the 1997 Stegosaurus model from The Lost World, and a dozen others. We’ve added new building designs and reworked how many work. Thus, the Visitor Center now acts as a research center, there are more landscaping objects such as signage and even a new guest need: toilets that enjoy a new administrative level for players to enjoy.
MS: You mentioned new content?
RN: We’re adding our first winged reptile, the Pteranodon, which gives the game a new verticality and a whole new living space, the Aviary. At the other end of the scale, we’ve added our smallest dinosaur, the Compsognathus. Compys are small and fast, providing a new challenge for players, guests and the Rangers. We are very pleased to add these two creatures to Jurassic World Evolution.
There is much more. Now the visitor center is the hub for
Research and fossil extraction. Guests and new dinosaurs are equally alike
another island via the helipad Arrival Building. There is the new Jurassic Park
Touring, the classic Jurassic Park Gates and more. Altogether we have 16
New building variants, some of which also add a new approach to management
Systems, as many of them now have different purposes. And that can all be
Also played in sandbox or challenge mode.
MS: You’ve usually added free content and improvements in addition to your premium DLC and Dinosaur Pack drops. Would you like to tell us something this time?
RN: There are a few big changes for all Jurassic World Evolution players, whether they have the DLC or not. Ranger Danger is a term used to describe new behaviors of dinosaurs. Ranger teams who come too close to dinosaurs run the risk of being attacked. Therefore, you must use the new flare gun to distract more aggressive species. If the vehicles take too much damage, they must return to the ranger station for repair. We’ve also added new guest needs with toilets, another aspect that players should consider, and a big request from the community. And then there are the ongoing corrections and optimizations.
WOMAN: Sounds like a lot. Anything else to add?
RN: It’s an honor to be able to tread on this prehistoric playground, and we love every minute of it.
