I was 10 years old when The Sims 2 was released, which made me the perfect age to play around in the game and imagine what my adult life might look like. Maybe a successful doctor? A mogul living in a mansion?
And now that I’ve managed to become a D-list Internet video producer living in a dirty apartment in New York, I’ve found that this strategy to fulfill desires was not very productive. I should have done an experiment.
I fixed my mistake by revisiting The Sims as a 25-year-old. I’ve recreated myself and my current flat in the standard version of The Sims 4 (I did not want Simulated Brian to become something ridiculous, like a magician or a college student), and I’ve done experiments to see how can I perfect my life situation.
After that I recreated my simulated, perfected apartment in real life.
