Rare Delays Sea of Thieves Season 10 Until October
Rare, the developer of Sea of Thieves, has announced that the launch of Season 10 will be delayed until October. The company stated in a blog post and video update that it requires extra time to introduce new systems for the open-world multiplayer pirate game.
Season 9 was released in March and typically lasts for around three months according to the game’s website. Season 10 was originally planned for an August launch, but on Wednesday, Rare made the “difficult decision” to push the launch date to October 19.
Head of community, Christina McGrath, expressed that the decision was made after careful consideration to ensure the quality of the release and the wellbeing of the development team. She acknowledged that some players may have already reached Renown level 100 and feel like they have experienced all there is to do in the current season but assured them that new content, such as a free, three-part DLC expansion based on The Secret of Monkey Island, will be released to keep them entertained until Season 10 arrives.
McGrath also announced that Rare is planning to release what was intended to be Season 11’s headline content during the second month of Season 10. Additionally, she mentioned upcoming events in August and September, including a Gold & Glory Weekend, Legends Week, and a special Community Weekend, promising more details on these events in the coming weeks.
