Veteran video game developer Shinji Mikami has recently founded a new company called ‘Kamuy Inc’, as mentioned on the Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered website. However, there are no further details provided about the company’s plans or activities yet.

In October 2023, Mikami announced on Twitter that he is ready to start working now that he is free from non-competition obligations. Previously, Mikami left Tango Gameworks, the studio behind popular games like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo, which he had founded in 2010.

Mikami is well-known for his work at Capcom, where he directed games like the original Resident Evil, its 2002 GameCube remake, and Resident Evil 4. In 2020, Mikami expressed his desire to work on one more video game project before retiring, with ideas that go beyond the horror genre.

Currently, Mikami is collaborating on the Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered with Goichi Suda, also known as Suda51. Suda has expressed interest in creating a new game in the franchise with Mikami’s involvement in the future.
