Shorter, denser and closer to the first games, Mirage attracts attention
Almost nothing remains of 9th century Baghdad, one of the largest cities in the world son time. Burned and destroyed, the city was then rebuilt to cross the centuries and today accommodate more than 8 millions of inhabitants. We do know, however, that it was a new town built ex nihilo in the 8th century from a circular plan and equipped with a double pregnant fortified.
The different sources allow us to know son role, its power and son organization, but it is a great playground for Ubisoft creatives, which placed the action of Assassin’s Creed Mirage there. With a smaller scope, the title allows the license to reconnect with its origins by not offering a vast open world but a dense city, full of nooks, buildings to climb and alleys to navigate at full speed. Emphasizing the parkour and stealthMirage should delight fans early on until the next big projects (Hexe, Red) are added to the schedule.
In the game that will be released October 12 on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series, players will take on the role of young Basim Ibn Ishaq, whom Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players know well. This time it’s about telling comment he entered the brotherhood of those whomon do not seeAnd comment he rose to the rank of master in a region of the world which would see the birth of a certain Altaïr three centuries later. The opportunity to dig into the story of this mysterious character, whose intentions as well as the deeds question all the players since 2020.
Basim, from simple thief to master assassin
Through a five-minute video released this weekend, on learn more about Basim while gleaning new footage from the game, which is nearing the end of son development. THE ton is given from the title, since Ubisoft tells us about Basim, the Master Assassin. But before becoming an important figure in the Brotherhood, Basim was an agile and fast thief who roamed the streets of and around Baghdad to survive. It is very quickly specified that Mirage can be played without the need to have launched Valhalla, the story taking place before the adventures of Eivor.
Obviously there will be secrets and easter-eggs to flush out, but nothing to get in the way of the storytelling. Before becoming an overpowered assassin, Bassim was therefore a thief, who embarked with him Nehal, his best friend. But Bassim is not like the others, and has always been haunted by visions he is unable to understand. Recruited by the brotherhood, he will end up making his way to Alamut, the mythical fortress of the Assassins, then under construction. Once formed, he receives the mission of hunt down the Order of the Ancientsa group originally from the Templars and introduced in Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Thanks to different outfits designed by the chara-designers of Ubisoft Bordeaux, on can follow son evolution within the Brotherhood, and as much to say that he has all the qualities to become a recognized and respected master. As we saw during the gameplay presentation, Basim will have many tools and skills allowing him to gain the upper hand over his opponents.
We think in particular of Focus, which will allow our hero to assassinate several targets in a row. In game, he gives the impression of teleporting, but the team explains that the idea is more to show that he is extremely fast and that his enemies do not have time to react. Game original hiding within it many ingredients of a discreet remake, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will come enrich a universe that has been constantly developing since 2007.
