Big news in the gaming world: Square Enix has just invested in Danish developer BetaDwarf to supercharge the development of their upcoming RPG, Vault Breakers.
Unveiled back in January, Vault Breakers is set as a thrilling top-down RPG. Hideaki Uehara, Square Enix’s general manager of business development, nailed it when he mentioned, “Square Enix is always looking for high-quality games and talented development studios.”
His excitement is palpable after experiencing the rich game world of Vault Breakers. He continued to emphasize how impressed he was by the community-building aspect of the game, stating, “When I played Vaultbreakers, I was genuinely excited by the experience of connecting with other players.”
What This Investment Means
The partnership appears to be a match made in heaven, offering BetaDwarf a wealth of tools and resources to enhance their game. Steffen Kabbelgaard, CEO and game director at BetaDwarf, reflected on this collaboration, highlighting how impactful it is to have Square Enix involved, stating, “Being accompanied by Square Enix on our journey is an amazing access to a combination of knowledge, talent, and resources.”
BetaDwarf, a studio with roots dating back to 2012, has previously published games like Forced and Minion Masters. Their commitment to developing Vault Breakers is already showing significant promise. With a community of over 50,000 dedicated players providing feedback through 15 test runs, the game is shaping up to be something special.
“We’re already very far with our dream game Vaultbreakers: we have a huge amazing community,” Kabbelgaard said. The excitement is infectious, especially as they move into this next stage of production with newfound support.
Playtests are currently running and will continue until July 9, giving players a sneak peek into what’s to come. Check out the trailer for a taste of what Vault Breakers has to offer!
