Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games Release Behind the Scenes Video for Star Wars Outlaws
Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games have recently unveiled a new behind the scenes video for their highly anticipated game, Star Wars Outlaws. Watch the video below to get a glimpse of what’s in store:
The Story
Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws follows the captivating story of Kay Vess, a determined scoundrel on a quest for freedom and a fresh start. Joining her on this thrilling journey is her trusted companion, Nix.
A Genuine Star Wars Experience
“The most exciting thing is being able to go back to iconic locations that people know and love, but then diving into the Lucasfilm archives and really bringing them alive in a new but very genuine way,” says Marthe Jonkers, associate art director at Massive.
“It’s not just about recreating Tatooine as you know it,” adds art and world director Benedikt Podlesnigg. “Going back to the classic sources of spaghetti westerns, we try to recreate an authentic mood and feel as we build new points of interest to follow the already established history.”
Expansive In-Game Universe
In a recent interview, Star Wars Outlaws creative director Julian Gerighty mentioned that the in-game planets in the game will be equivalent to the size of two or three zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
Importantly, all planets and locations in the game are being “handcrafted”, meaning that the developers have not relied on procedural generation to create the vast and immersive universe.
New Location – Toshara
One of the exciting highlights of Star Wars Outlaws is the introduction of a brand new location called Toshara. According to Steve Blank, Lucasfilm’s franchise content and strategy director, Toshara has “been built from the ground up with the scoundrel fantasy at its beating heart”. Get ready to explore this captivating new world!
Release Date
Star Wars Outlaws is set to be released in 2024 and will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC through Ubisoft Connect.
