Warner Bros. Discovery’s game Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League didn’t meet the company’s expectations after its release on February 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. The game faced delays, with an Epic Games Store release planned for March 5.

During Warner Bros. Discovery’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Wiedenfels mentioned that Suicide Squad’s performance fell short compared to last year’s release of Hogwarts Legacy. This puts the company’s games business in a challenging position for the first quarter.

Rocksteady Studios, known for the Batman Arkham franchise, developed Suicide Squad. Despite being highly anticipated, the game’s long development cycle and live service elements received criticism. The game’s mixed reviews on Metacritic and technical issues at launch didn’t help its reception.

Rocksteady announced that Suicide Squad’s free seasonal content will feature various DC characters, starting with The Joker in March. Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO David Zaslav previously mentioned the company’s focus on transforming its major franchises into live service games.
