Although virtual reality headsets may not go through the same platform war as consoles or streaming, it can still be difficult to know which headset to buy. If you are not sure what to take for this vacation, read our reviews on the Oculus Rift S, the Oculus Quest, the Oculus Go, the HTC Vive, the Valve Index and the PlayStation VR Headset.
However, if you know which VR headset you are looking for but have not yet made a purchase, check out the Black Friday 2019 VR headset offer below.
If you’re looking for an affordable VR headset that connects to your PC for a great camera-less experience, the Oculus Rift S is for you. The headset will cost $ 350 from November 28th.
If you’d rather get an all-in-one headset that does not need to be connected but still offers lots of games and entertainment, read the Oculus Quest review (see the Ogulus Quest review by Polygon for details). If you buy one by January 1, you will receive all three episodes of Vader Immortal at the time of purchase. This equates to a value of $ 29.97.
If you prefer a VR headset that focuses more on entertainment than games, try the Oculus Go (read our Oculus Go review). It will be available from November 28 through December 2 for $ 149 for the 32GB version and $ 199 for the 64GB version.
If you’re looking for a higher quality VR headset with some extra features, check out the Vive Pro (read our Vive Pro review) and the Vive Cosmos (read The Verge review).
The Vive Pro Starter Kit, which comes with the system’s headset and original tracking cameras and controllers, is offered for sale for $ 799, with a $ 300 discount for the holidays. The Vive Pro Full Kit will also receive the same discount, but will ship with its upgraded tracking cameras, controllers and tracking upgrades for $ 1,099. If you’re just looking for the Vive Pro headset, you’ll save $ 200 on vacation. Certified used versions of the original Vive also fall for $ 50.
If you want the latest from HTC, but do not need the power of the Vive Pro, you get the Vive Cosmos for $ 100. In contrast to the Vive Pro the Cosmos breaks the tracking cameras and executes the tracking exclusively via the headset.
The Vive Wireless Adapter from HTC, which will turn Vive headsets into wireless devices, will also cost $ 50 for the Christmas weekend.
If you’re looking for VR games, apps and videos, check out Viveport Infinity’s Black Friday offer, which gives you a 45% discount on the cost of a one-year subscription.
Fortunately, if you own a PlayStation 4 and want to get on the VR, the PlayStation VR (read the PlayStation VR review by Polygon for more information) also has a share of holiday offers. There are two big deals between several retailers. In one, you’ll find a wide variety of games while the other focuses on two titles.
The PlayStation VR Megapack includes the PlayStation VR headset, a PlayStation camera and download codes for Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Skyrim VR, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Everybody’s Golf VR, and PlayStation VR Worlds. The entire package costs $ 199.99, and during the holidays $ 199.00. This bundle does not contain a PlayStation VR Move controller.
You can now also purchase the PlayStation VR Blood & Truth and Everybody’s Golf VR bundles for $ 249.99. It also includes the headset, the camera, and two PlayStation VR Move controllers.
