The Elder Scrolls Online travels to Skyrim in 2020

The Elder Scrolls Online is finally on its way to Skyrim, the site of the critically acclaimed hit The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. The new expansion was teased during The Game Awards tonight, and ZeniMax Online Studios promises more information during a live stream at 2:00 pm. PST on January 16, 2020.

Work on Elder Scrolls Online began in 2007 with the creation of ZeniMax Online. Skyrim came out in November 2011. It was so successful that studio director Matt Firor Polygon announced in 2016 that it fundamentally changed the fans’ expectations of what an Elder Scrolls MMO might be. This led to massive efforts to revise Elder Scrolls Online with the so-called One Tamriel update, which was discontinued later this year.

It’s not the first time that Elder Scrolls Online revisits the lands of other successful games in the franchise. In 2017, Bethesda released a beautiful replica of Vvardenfell, home to The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. On Polygon’s YouTube channel, you can watch a 30-minute part of the game.

In the meantime, the current season of the Dragon campaign in Elder Scrolls Online for players on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One will soon come to an end. Those who have already invested in the game have to analyze a brand new trailer, including a two and a half minute Extended Cut version on YouTube.
