The PUBG developer reinvents the Battle Royale circle to stop the campers

From 5 to 8 December, PUBG Corporation tested a new mode for the popular Battle Royale game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. It’s called Bluehole mode and is designed to prevent players from camping in the middle of the safe zone.

Typically, in Battle Royale games, a large circle compresses the card as the game progresses, forcing groups of players into a claustrophobic arena. This can cause problems for players at the edge of safe zones. On their way to safety, they encounter players who have set up the ambush security zone for several minutes. It’s a frustrating way to lose a game. But the Bluehole mode could be the solution.

In addition to the normal circle that closes, the penultimate safe zone has an additional inner zone in Bluehole mode. This is to prevent players from entering the final circle until the penultimate round. Any player who is brave or stupid enough to come in, like the outer circle, suffers constant damage. Players must position themselves between the inner and outer circle until the penultimate round, with the inner circle allowing players access.

The PUBG Corporation claimed to have introduced the new mode as players who appear near the last circle often have an unfair advantage. It also wanted to prevent players from having to run the whole game by fighting the circle instead of other players.

Bluehole testing ended on December 8 at PUBG Labs. It is unclear when or if live servers are actually affected.
