Ubisoft Announces ‘History of Baghdad’ Feature in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Ubisoft has unveiled a new feature in Assassin’s Creed Mirage called ‘History of Baghdad’. This feature aims to provide an interactive way for players to learn about the fascinating history, art, and culture of Baghdad during the ninth century Abbasid Caliphate.

Exploring Historical Sites and Unlocking Rewards

Players will have the opportunity to visit 66 historical sites throughout Baghdad. As players progress, they will unlock research-driven articles covering five key areas: art and science, belief and daily life, court life, economy, and government. Once the feature is completed, protagonist Basim will receive an in-game reward.

Developed in Collaboration with Experts

Ubisoft has worked closely with historians and expert advisors to craft this historically accurate feature. The content is illustrated with carefully selected images from renowned museums and institutions.

Diverse and Nuanced Approach

Ubisoft is proud to address sensitive and misrepresented topics with a nuanced approach. The feature covers subjects such as the harem, the role of eunuchs, and slavery in a thoughtful manner. They have also infused humor into entries on Table Manners and Market Inspectors, recognizing that history can be both educational and entertaining.

A Return to the Essence of Assassin’s Creed

Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, Mirage is a love letter to the original Assassin’s Creed games. The gameplay focuses on parkour, stealth, and assassinations, bringing back the action-adventure style that defined earlier titles in the series.

Gameplay Preview and Release Date

Ubisoft recently revealed eight minutes of Assassin’s Creed gameplay. The highly anticipated game is scheduled to release on October 12, 2023, for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
