Xbox to Stream Gameplay to Discord

Xbox is introducing a new feature that allows players to stream their gameplay directly to Discord. The feature is currently being rolled out to Xbox Insider members on the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings for testing purposes.

Once the testing phase is complete, Xbox plans to make this feature available to all Xbox owners, stating that it will be coming soon for everyone.

According to a post on the official Xbox Wire blog, players can easily stream games to their Discord friends by selecting the ‘stream your game’ option. To get started, you need to link your Discord account to your Xbox console and join voice channels from your Discord servers directly.

To try it out, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  2. Scroll to Parties & Chats.
  3. Select Discord.
  4. Scroll through your available Discord servers and pick a voice channel.
  5. Start streaming!

Xbox is eager to receive feedback from users as they explore this feature and looks forward to the future of Xbox and Discord.

Last year, Microsoft enabled the ability to join Discord voice channels directly from an Xbox console.

Discord, founded in 2015, is a popular platform for video game players to chat while playing online. With over 150 million monthly users, Discord hosts various gaming and non-gaming communities.

In 2021, Microsoft was reportedly in talks to acquire Discord for $10 billion. However, Discord declined the offer to focus on a potential public listing. Subsequently, Sony announced in May 2021 that it had made a minority investment in Discord, leading to its integration with PlayStation consoles in 2022. The recent Xbox integration further demonstrates Discord’s non-exclusivity.
