Gas prices rise after statements by the President of the European Commission

Prices for natural gas in European markets rose, today, on Monday, contracts for blue fuel traded above the level of 1,700 dollars per thousand cubic meters.

Gas futures for August today started trading at $1,680 per 1,000 cubic meters, and a few minutes after the opening, contracts rose to $1,730 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Before that, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on European countries to prepare for the possibility of a complete halt in gas supplies from Russia.

According to the President of the European Commission, this “will happen sooner or later,” and this statement was made despite the fact that Russia has established itself as a reliable supplier of blue fuel for many years.
