The World Health Organization has confirmed that monkeypox will not transform in an epidemic like Corona virus, because there is a vaccine for it, noting that countries should be transparent by announcing infections if they occur.

The Director of Epidemiology of the World Health Organization, Abdel Nasser Abu Bakr, explained in an interview with Al-Arabiya Channel that awareness of monkeypox disease and how to deal with it needs to be raised.

There is a vaccine

Furthermore, he claimed that his vaccine exists and is effective for infected cases and has been approved, but he needs to test.

He added that the organization recommends vaccinating only infected cases and those who are in contact with them.

Furthermore, he stressed that no country is immune from the danger of the spread of monkeypox, urging all Arab countries to prepare to monitor any infection.

Guidelines and recommendations

Interestingly, the World Health Organization announced on Saturday that 92 confirmed cases and 28 suspected cases of monkeypox have been reported. in 12 Member States in which the virus is not usually endemic, noting that it will provide further guidance and recommendations for countries on how to limit the spread of the infection.

This infection is passed from one person to another between people in close physical contact, especially with cases showing symptoms, as explained by the United Nations.

However, he stressed, in a message of reassurance that the outbreak of this disease is not at all similar to the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic because it is not easily transmitted.
