Global survey finds the drunken country in the world – and it’s not the US

An international survey measuring alcohol and drugs use in 2020 found Australians were drunk more times on average than any other country in the world.

The Global Drug Survey, die 32,000 early people over 22 countries to ask over their content use, found that the average Australian drinks alcohol to the point of drunken almost 27 times last year. and a little more than a quarter of Australian respondents said they were sorry.

Denmark and Finland followed closely behind Australia with Residents in every nation gets drunk around 24 times in 2020. The US and UK round out the top 5. Americans said they were drunk around 23 times while people in UK noted they were drunk more than 22 times.

Respondents over worldwide on on average said they experienced feelings of drunkenness more than 14 times last year of slightly more than once a month. The top worldwide reason for regret, respondents said, was that they drank too much too soon.

the foundation for CEO of Alcohol Research and Education, Caterina Giorgi, told The Guardian the numbers in the research shows that Australians drink at “fairly risky levels”.

“We have seen a strong increase, die has led to persistent calls” for help to drug and alcohol hotlines, and greater involvement with alcohol with family calls for violence,” she continued, noting that the increase reflects a greater number of people using alcohol to cope with stress during the pandemic.

The survey notes about 1.2 percent of respondents sought urgent medical attention because of drinking.
