Internet search giant Google is shutting down its Hangouts chat service, two years after it first announced it will push people to use chat on its Gmail app.
This is the second time in two years that one of the famous Google applications is closed, as announced in August last year the closing of the Android Auto application.
Google canceled the Hangouts chat app for Android and iOS in July. It offered users to switch to a standalone Google Chat app or a chat experience within Gmail.
As TechCrunch said, even the latest version of the messaging service, Hangouts for the Web, it will be removed in permanently, as seen by Al Arabiya.net.
When users log into the site web Hangouts, they may see a message that says: “From November 1, 2022, Hangouts on the web will redirect to chat web”. We recommend that you log into Google Chat now.”
Google previously said that those wishing to keep a copy of their Hangouts data will need to use the Takeout tool before the service is terminated.
