Guardiola comments on the “hostile chants” of Manchester City fans

LONDON: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has apologized for team chants related to the tragedies of Hillsborough and Hesel, during the team’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool last Sunday in English Premier League. Guardiola, who said he hadn’t heard any offensive chorus, believes Manchester City will learn lessons on and off the pitch from what happened at Anfield in last Sunday’s game. Liverpool expressed disappointment with the “vulgar” chants of Manchester City fans, as well as the murals referring to the tragedies in Hillsborough and Heysel that took place in the 1980s. Guardiola’s comments, expressed at a press conference on Friday, were Manchester City’s first public reaction to the match’s events. “I have not heard the chants,” Guardiola said in comments published by the British news agency “PA Media”. He added: “If that happens, I’m very sorry. It doesn’t represent who we are as a team and how club… But rest assured, we can act perfectly after mistakes, without any problem “. (Dpa)
