The manager Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola believes competition with his Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp has made him a better manager as the two coaches prepare for another clash in Premier League on Sunday.
The first confrontation between Guardiola and Klopp eight years ago in Germany led the technical management of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund respectively, before the competition between them was renewed in England.
Guardiola said: “Klopp helped me a lot. By competing with him and the teams he worked with, he made me a better coach. He took me to other levels. He made me rethink things and work to challenge myself. Here we go. because we came in this place. Some coaches are a challenge that makes you cut. “One step in come on. We did it in Germany and here too in England. We have been competing for many years. It’s nice that the two teams share the same ideas and goals. “
Both teams have started the season well, with City in down a point behind leaders Liverpool after six games.
