Guterres calls on the Ethiopian parties to resume talks

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres stressed that there is no military solution in Ethiopia, calling for the rapid resumption of talks for an effective and lasting political solution.

In a press conference today, Guterres called for an immediate end to hostilities in the Tigray region in Ethiopia, including the withdrawal and disengagement of the Eritrean armed forces from Ethiopia.

He explained that the violence and destruction have reached alarming levels, noting that indiscriminate attacks have damaged vital infrastructure and limited access to vital services.
