His Excellency said in the Kingdom speech before the Human Rights Council: Today we witness the seventy-fifth anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which represents the basis of all human rights, and as we remember this historic event; Affirm that the promotion and protection of human rights; It requires relentless and continuous efforts and the achievement of transformations on the ground. The goals of this declaration are embodied and we in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are witnessing historical transformations represented in many reforms and developments in various fields of human rights, which have had a great impact on development and quality of life.
And noted what the Kingdom is seeing today, as part of its 2030 Development Vision, of major and unprecedented reforms in various fields, whose main objective is the human being. Noting that he worked to develop his own legislative system by making and amending many laws, which included the system of prove and the personal status system, and which they currently are in work was underway to prepare the draft of the penal system and the system of civil transactions.
And showed d. Al-Tuwaijri said that the Kingdom has seen a significant decrease in the unemployment rate in the period from 2016 to 2022, from 11.6% to 5.8%, in terms of the right to work. His Excellency noted the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Kingdom, including its willingness to stand beside the affected populations of the Syrian and Turkish peoples and to mitigate the effects of the devastating earthquake, which caused great loss of life and property. At the end of the Kingdom speech, His Excellency called on the Human Rights Council to assume its responsibilities to improve the human rights situation in the world, in a climate of constructive dialogue, a commitment to transparency and objectivity, and the promotion of a culture of tolerance, emphasizing the Kingdom’s sensitivity to the need to give equal attention to all human rights, in so that we do not focus on rights at the expense of others, in implementation of the principle of the complementarity of human rights and their indivisibility.
The Human Rights Council, in its 52nd session, opened the proceedings in the presence of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the President of the 77th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Chaba Koroshi, the High Commissioner for Rights, Volker Türk, and the heads of delegations of participating UN Member States, including heads of state and government, officials and human rights experts and specialists, to discuss a range of topics and issues relating to the human rights situation in the world.
