He said the Hamas delegation, led by Ismail Haniyeh, met with the director of Egyptian intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel, in a positive atmosphere, where the two sides discussed many issues at the level of political and field developments, bilateral relations, ways to achieve the unity of the Palestinian people and the settlement of the Palestinian home.

The Hamas delegation expressed its appreciation for Egypt’s great role in the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people, and for its ongoing meetings with the movement’s leadership.

The two sides discussed ways to restore national unity and organize the Palestinian home, where the Hamas delegation affirmed the movement’s enthusiasm and support for the restoration of unity and the end of division.

Egypt had informed the Palestinian factions to postpone the meetings that should have started in Cairo last June to discuss reconciliation, calm and reconstruction, without setting a new date.
