Chris Evans, 55, has divulged that the supposed rift between Prince Harry, 36, Meghan Markle, 39, and the rest of Royal Family is one that “needs to be healed”. The Virgin Radio DJ claimed the arrival of the Sussexes’ second child Lilibet Diana Winsor-Mountbatten could be the key to now ending their reported tensions with senior members of the firm.
Babies can do amazing things
On his radio show this morning, Chris took the time to read out some of today’s headlines regarding the arrival of the royal baby.
He began: “Yesterday, Meghan and Harry announced the birth of their daughter in tribute to the Queen and his mum, Lillibet ‘Lilli’ Diana Mountbatten Windsor who shares her family’s nickname, arrived 11.45am on Friday, in California in a hospital in Santa Barbara.”
One headline read: “‘Will a new baby heal the rift?’”
In response, Chris said: “Well babies can do amazing things and if anything can heal that rift, and it does need to be healed, it is this little baby.”

The 7lbs 11oz baby arrived on Friday evening UK time and her name includes touching tributes to both Prince Harry’s mum and grandmother.
Lilibet is believed to have been chosen as it was a name coined by the Queen when she was too young to pronounce Elizabeth.
Others including broadcaster Piers Morgan have questioned whether the name is a way of extending an olive branch to the Royal Family, after several damning interviews given in the US by the Duke and Duchess.
Piers appeared on Australia’s Today programme on Channel 9, and was asked by host Karl Stefanovic what he thought of the name.

He replied: “It’s quite ironic, isn’t it? You have this couple who have been trashing the Royal Family and the monarchy for the last few weeks and they have named the baby after the Queen.”
Piers continued: “Maybe it’s their way of reaching out, as the Americans say, to the royals and wanting some kind of end to this on-running feud.”
However, the Queen has said she is “delighted” over the news of a new addition to the family.
Buckingham Palace shared: “The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Prince William and the Duchess and Cambridge said: “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.”
Buckingham Palace declined to say when the Queen was informed of the safe arrival of her 11th great-grandchild, who is eighth in line to the throne, or whether she was advised of the tribute to her in Lili’s name.
However, The Times reported that Harry had spoken to his grandmother before yesterday’s announcement was made.
The birth came after Prince Harry and Meghan made a series of explosive claims about the Royal Family during a landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.
Meghan and Prince Harry alleged an unnamed royal of making a remark about their son Archie’s skin tone.
They also claimed the firm had failed to help the Duchess when she was having suicidal thoughts.
In one particularly shocking statement, the Duchess declared that at one point she had “no longer wanting to be alive” during 2019, after struggling in the palace.
