Actor Finn Cole, 25, has paid tribute to his late Peaky Blinders co-star Helen McCrory, following her death at 52. Finn played Michael Gray in the hit series while Helen played matriarch Aunt Polly. The star’s passing was announced by her husband Damian Lewis, 50, on Twitter yesterday, who said he was “heartbroken” over his wife’s death following a battle with cancer.

Taking to his Instagram stories, Finn paid tribute to his on-screen mum.
Addressing his 874,000 followers, he started the video: “I don’t normally do this kind of thing, but I just wanted to get a quick message out there about the late Helen McCrory.
“For those of you who don’t know, she played my mum in Peaky Blinders for the last few years, Polly Gray.
“Those of you who’ve seen it know that she was the life and soul of that show.”

The London-born actor went on to reveal that his late co-star was behind some of the success he’d gained in his acting career.
Finn continued: “She was also someone that I also thank for a lot of the success in my career, the lessons she taught me onscreen and off screen, she pulled a performance out of me that I didn’t even think I was capable of and that’s credit to what a talent she was.”
“She was witty, classy and just really f*****g cool, far too young and beautiful to play my mother.”
The star went on to state that he would miss his on-screen mum “greatly.”

He continued: “So my love goes out to the family, to the friends, to the fans that supported her.
“So yeah I feel very lucky to have been able to work with her and spend all that time over the years with her, learning and laughing.

Finn signed off the video saying: “Look after each other guys, lots of love.”

The Peaky Blinders actor also shared a picture of him and Helen together from their time on the series.
Finn captioned the picture: “Mother, wife, and an all round amazing role model.
“A force of nature who’s advice I’ll carry forever.
“From day 1 on Peaky I felt blessed, and I will always aspire to be as awesome as Helen McCrory.
“Thank you mum. Rest easy x”
Hours before the tribute, Homeland actor Damian Lewis announced the death of his wife on social media.
The pair had been married for 13 years and have two children together.
In the announcement, the actor revealed that Helen died peacefully, he wrote: “The beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family.”
