Henry Cavill’s Superman joins DCU Banner

On a new DC Universe banner at CCXP, Henry Cavill’s Superman joins Aquaman, Black Adam, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Superman, played by Henry Cavill, is one of a number of DCU heroes on a new banner. After leaving the franchise in 2017, Henry Cavill returned as Superman in the after-credits scene of Black Adam to face off against Dwayne Johnson’s antihero. The scene is just a taste of what’s to come, but with Warner Bros. reorganizing, it’s hard to say what’s in store for Cavill’s Superman in the future. Discovery, James Gunn, and Peter Safran were named co-heads of the new DC Studios, which had changed its name.

Henry Cavill's Superman 2

A new banner at Comic Con Experience 2022 in Brazil shows that Cavill’s Superman has joined the pantheon of DC heroes. Collider says that the banner shows Cavill’s Kryptonian superhero, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, Robert Pattinson’s Batman, and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman.

Why DC’s Advertising With Henry Cavill’s Superman Is Important

Since Cavill’s Superman had been absent from the DC franchise since 2017, it appeared unlikely that he would ever return. However, due to Johnson’s persistence behind the scenes, Cavill appeared in the post-credits scene of Black Adam, which was a spur-of-the-moment decision rather than the result of careful planning. Now, DC advertisements featuring Henry Cavill’s Superman indicate that he is back and an integral part of the franchise’s plans.

On the new banner, Cavill’s Superman appears alongside a number of DC icons with their successful subfranchises. Aquaman, starring Momoa, was the first DCU film to gross over a billion dollars, and Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is its sequel. Gadot has starred in two Wonder Woman films, the first significantly more successful than the second. Wonder Woman 3 is currently in production. Pattinson’s debut in The Batman was a success, and he is now returning for a sequel. Johnson is also expected to return in a possible Black Adam 2 and is planning a future showdown with Cavill’s Superman. Cavill’s inclusion in the franchise sends a clear message about what appears to be in store for him, given the bright futures of the other characters.

When Will DC Announce Cavill’s Upcoming Appearance as Superman?

Due to Gunn and Safran’s recent restructuring of the DC Extended Universe, it is unlikely that Cavill’s next Superman appearance will be announced during CCXP 2022, which takes place from November 30 to December 4. Gunn and Safran are currently developing a 10-year plan for the DCU, which they plan to present to Warner Bros. The discovery will likely occur at the beginning of 2023, with the public unveiling shortly after that. Cavill’s Superman joining the other DCU heroes on the new banner is an encouraging sign that he will be an integral part of the franchise’s long-term strategies.
