Holidays in Red Dead Online offers snow, showdown modes, free gifts and more
It’s hard to believe that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been available for over a year, but Red Dead Online is almost gone. The game was launched on consoles in the spring and only on the PC last month and is the first real Christmas season for the active gaming community of the game. To celebrate, Rockstar Games pulls out all the stops with a winter weather warning that starts on December 20th.
First of all, there is free prey. Everyone who signs up for Red Dead Online between December 23rd and 25th gets a lot of Christmas joy in the form of weapons, ammunition and treats for your horse. Here’s the full list of what’s in the gift box:
- The Krampus Double Barrel Shotgun variant
- 30 rounds of Incendiary Buckshot Ammo
- 100 shotgun slugs
- 10 thyme big game
- 10 Minty Plump Birds
- 20 carrots
- 20 different cookies
- 50 sweets
- 10 fine brandies
- 10 special miracle tonics
- 20 volatile bottles of fire
- 2x brook plums
- 2x agarita
Rockstar is also distributing some additional goodies, but you’ll need to access the menus to get them. From December 13th and until January 6th, anyone who registers can redeem the following vouchers in the “Benefits” section of the main menu:
- 3,000 Club XP
- RDO $ 200 for starting a new role
- 1x Free Trader Resupply reward
- 1x free weapon component of your choice reward
- 1x treasure map reward
- 1x free Moonshiner Mash Refill reward
- 30% discount on a stable slot offer
If you register between December 31 and January 6, you will also receive a bonus of 1,000XP for each of the four specialist roles. There are also offers for the butcher table, medium-sized delivery vans, the bounty hunter’s Schofield revolver skin and the collector’s Lancaster repeater.
The online shop also has a special 50% sale for shotguns and coats. This is helpful because players can expect snow to fall all over the game world tomorrow. A seasonal cloud of dust is also offered in some platform-exclusive showdown modes with holiday motifs. People on PlayStation 4 have access to Gun Rush (a Battle Royale mode), Make it Count (bow and arrow only) and Last Stand. Everyone else gets spoils of war (conquer flag mode), Up in Smoke (basic attack) and Overrun (area control) ,
Finally, fans can greet the New Year with a special selection of gifts from Ms. Nazar. All you have to do is collect a goose egg, cognac and a thyme-plump bird for the holiday collection or the magic wand ace, some scotch and a platinum pocket watch for the New Year collection. These offers run from December 14th to 30th and from December 31st to January 6th.
